Mr. Niladri Roy (DOB: 11th April 1966) is currently serving as Director (Technical), Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL)/Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), under the Ministry of Coal, Government of India. He also holds additional responsibilities as Nominee Director at Coal Gas India Limited -a joint venture between CIL and GAIL. A distinguished Mining professional, Mr. Roy holds a B.Tech in Mining Engineering from the prestigious Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad (1983 - 1987), and earned the First-Class Manager's Certificate of Competency from DGMS in 1991.
Mr. Roy over his illustrious career spanning nearly four decades, has served in multiple leadership roles in BCCL, ECL & CIL in various capacities, showcasing a broad spectrum of technical and managerial expertise.
Mr. Roy is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India) and aLifemember of the Mining, Geological & Metallurgical Institute of India (MGMI). He has been recognized with multiple awards including the Eminent Engineers Award by The Institution of Engineers (India), MGMI Award of Excellence for Coal Mining (2024 - 25) and the CIL Foundation Day Award for Best Innovation.
He has presented and published several technical papers andhis active participation in International Collaborations reflects his commitment to global best practices in mining. Mr. Roy represented India and Coal India Limited at various global forums - visiting Germany (2009) for a DMT project, attending the World Mining Congress in Istanbul, Turkey (2011), and representing CIL at international delegations in Poland (2015) and Australia (2016, 2019).
